However, Messi’s appearance lasted only around 20 minutes before he and the players were escorted away due to reported security concerns. Many spectators were unable to get a clear view of the Argentine star, leading to widespread dissatisfaction in the stands.

Some fans reacted by ripping out seats and throwing objects onto the pitch. Footage from ANI showed individuals climbing barriers to hurl debris, prompting immediate intervention from stadium officials. Event organiser Satadru Dutta was later detained over alleged mismanagement, while West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ordered a formal inquiry into the incident.

Hyderabad: Messi Engages With Fans

Messi’s next stop in Hyderabad offered a calmer atmosphere. At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, the forward received a warm reception from fans filling the venue. Unlike in Kolkata, Messi was able to participate in light football activities, exchanging passes with Suárez and De Paul.

The trio also interacted with local youth players, joined by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. This session marked Messi’s first meaningful engagement with fans since arriving in India.

Messi Thanks Supporters in Hyderabad

Addressing the crowd, Messi expressed his appreciation for the reception.

“Thank you very much for all your affection,” he said. “It’s an honour for us to spend these days here in India with you. I’m truly grateful.”

De Paul added that the experience had been “very special”, while Suárez also thanked supporters for their warm welcome.

What’s Next on Messi’s India Tour?

Messi is scheduled to travel to Mumbai on Sunday, where he is expected to meet several public figures, including members of the Indian film industry and other dignitaries. He will then continue to Delhi on Monday before concluding the India segment of his tour.
